William Richard “Bill” Mentzer, 69, of Roanoke Rapids died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at UNC Hospitals.

He was a member of First Christian Church and retired from Dominion NC Power.  He was currently employed with C. W. Wright Construction as safety & works methods manager.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce Tanner Mentzer; his daughter, Elizabeth C. Daniel and her husband, Charley; four grandchildren, Katie and Kenley Floyd and Landen and Logan Daniel, all of Roanoke Rapids; and special friends, Donald and Maggie Anthony, of Roanoke Rapids, and Donnie and Su Lin Anthony and their children, Justin and Camryn Anthony, of Chapel Hill.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 22, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, at First Christian Church with Minister Bane Angles and Rev. Randy Martin officiating.  Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
