Beatrice Lyles “Bea” Babson 88, of Roanoke Rapids died Saturday morning, July 23, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. “Bea” a native of Halifax County was the daughter of the late Archer Bell and Patty Estelle Butler Lyles.

“Bea” was a life long active member of Rosemary Baptist Church. She loved to travel and was a mother and grandmother to all.

She is survived by her daughter, Jan Babson Clark of Chesterfield, Va., her grand daughter Brittany Nichole Thompson of Chesterfield, Va. her grandson Dustin Scott Thompson of Blacksburg, Va. (Va. Tech); brother Garland Payne Lyles of Spartanburg, SC; sister-in-law Lorene Lyles of Roanoke Rapids; nephew Ray Thortis of Jacksonville, Florida and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 26, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Dr Layne Wallace and Rev. Randy Martin  officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 25, from 7-8:30 at the funeral home.
