Robert “Bob” Coley, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on September 29, 2025 in Littleton, North Carolina.

Born on August 12, 1949 in Portsmouth, Virginia, Bob lived a life marked by service, devotion to family, and quiet strength. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

For his valor and dedication under fire, he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with combat “V,” a testament to his courage and commitment.

Bob was a man deeply devoted to those he loved. He shared 43 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Susan Coley, who remained by his side throughout their journey together.

His love extended to his daughters, Jo Barwick of Butner, NC and Stephanie Sloan and Brian of Selma, NC. He took great pride in his grandchildren, Tyler Sloan, Alyson Barwick, Hunter Early, Jordan Barwick and Gavin Sloan, each of whom brought joy and meaning to his later years.

Family was at the heart of Bob’s life. He is also remembered by his brothers, Gary and Tommy Coley and his sister, Cheryl Gardner. Though he endured the loss of his parents, Florine and Charlie Coley early in life as well as that of an infant brother, Danny and grandson, Joey Early, Bob carried their memories with him always.

Those who knew Bob will remember a man who stood tall in both character and conviction. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the values he upheld.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
