Joyce Reid King Wiggins

Roanoke Rapids, NC

October 13, 1942– October 8, 2025

Her time was her tithe. A woman of unwavering faith.

Joyce’s life mirrored the teachings and love of Jesus Christ—walking humbly, loving deeply, and serving others with compassion.

Joyce was a testament of devotion. She lived with purpose, always there giving a friend a needed ride to the doctor, sharing a cooked meal, or hosting her Derby Party with big hats and fun games. She did more each weekend than most do in a month.

Joyce was the heart and soul of every room. A true leader among her friends, she was the glue that held her group together, a loyal friend and wise confidant. Her wisdom was sought, her smile was infectious, and her presence a sweet memory.

From 1989 through 2014, she built a second family in Lyons, Georgia. She served her Georgia family, community and church with the same spirit she gave to Roanoke Rapids. A large part of Joyce’s heart remains on Wiggins Road, Lyons, Georgia.

She is survived by her daughter, Melody Reid and son-in-law, Robert/Chunky Reid of Beaufort, NC; son, Mark King and daughter-in-law, Beth King of Raleigh; granddaughter, Nicole and Dusty Brooks of Valentines, VA; granddaughter, Natalie Reid of Wilmington, NC; great-grandsons, Waylon and Cole Brooks. She had many cousins, nieces and nephews including Johnnie Reid who was her loyal friend and helper. Her Georgia family: Kyle Wiggins, Melissa, Courtney, Kylie, Ryan, Tammy, Tom, Jordan, Lindsey and Emersyn. She also had a wealth of friends who will miss her daily.

We have lost our Matriarch whom we will miss forever, but we celebrate as she dances to Elvis in heaven. “A life well done, Mom. Well done.”
