A Roanoke Rapids man remains in the Halifax County Detention Center after his arrest on gun charges Monday.

A juvenile who was in the vehicle with Quamir Williams at the top of a stop will be served juvenile petitions for possession  of marijuana, prescription pills, and paraphernalia, according to Major Anzell M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Williams was arrested and charged following a stop that Detective A. Holland initiated due to a motor vehicle violation in the area of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway and Charloner Drive.

A canine with the drug and gang task force gave a positive alert to the presence of contraband. Holland located two loaded firearms in the vehicle. Williams is a convicted felon out of New Jersey.

Holland arrested and charged Williams with two counts of possession of a firearm by felon and two counts of carrying a concealed gun.

He received a $55,000 secured bond and a December 16 district court date.

While Holland was investigating this traffic stop, marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia and prescription pills were taken from a juvenile who was in the vehicle.

Narcotics Sergeant K. Taylor and his canine partner Loki assisted during this stop.
