A Littleton man was charged with fentanyl possession and other counts after he was stopped Wednesday afternoon for passing in a no-passing zone.

Dequan Waynshay Browning, 29, remains in the Halifax County Detention without the opportunity for bond due to several pending charges and has a Friday district court date on the charges lodged by Sergeant P. Rackley of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office following the stop.

Rackley observed Browning pass a vehicle illegally in the area of Highway 48 near American Legion Road, according to Major Anzell M. Harris.

Browning was stopped on Haven Drive near Peanut Drive where Rackley learned the man’s license was revoked.

A canine gave a positive alert to the presence of a weapon, which because of a previous conviction Browning is not allowed to possess.

At the detention center Browning was found in possession of a bag containing a blue powder which was determined to be fentanyl.

Browning was charged with possession of a firearm by felon, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule I controlled substance, possess controlled substance in prison/jail, maintain vehicle for controlled substance, driving while license revoked, passing in a no passing zone and felony possess schedule I controlled substance.

Narcotics Sergeant B.J. Murphy with his dog Raven and Harris assisted.
