A Hollister man Wednesday was charged with assaulting a woman described by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office as a close friend.
The victim came to the sheriff’s office and reported the assault occurred on Highway 561 and that Freddy Roscoe Rudd reportedly threw her to the ground, took her phone and when she tried to call for help took a shotgun, loaded it and held it to her chest, according to Major Anzell M. Harris.

Rudd was arrested later that evening and served with the warrants.
He was jailed without the opportunity for bond and has a November 21 district court date.
