A man who police say stole around $200 worth of baby formula also pocketed the money the infant’s family had given him to buy it.
Roanoke Rapids police Chief Shane Guyant said Wednesday Officer B. Holcomb identified the man as 57-year-old Ronnie Mack Gary of Garysburg.
He has been charged with misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods. He was also charged with resist, delay, and obstruction for lying about his true identity, Guyant said.

Gary was taken into custody after loss prevention Wednesday noticed he had returned to the Premier Boulevard retailer where the items were stolen Tuesday evening.
“Information obtained in this investigation revealed that Gary had been given means to purchase the baby formula from the infant’s family, but instead chose to steal it,” Guyant said.
