Narcotics agents of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office and members of NC Safe Kids collected old/unused medications at Roses Department Store on Julian Allsbrook Highway Sunday.

During the event agents collected 4,064 pills, seven liquids and 23 veterinary pills.

The pills consisted of hydrocodone, tramadol, alprazolam, and clonazepam and other over the counter medications.

NC Safe Kids members gave out backpacks containing a coloring book and safety information to children.

“The sheriff's office and NC Safe Kids would like to thank the management and associates of Roses for the hospitality and for allowing this to be a drop off site,” said Captain A.M. Harris.

The next medication drop will be Saturday at Walgreens from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
