Northampton County emergency responders including the sheriff’s office, emergency management and emergency medical services will be collecting supplies starting Tuesday to send to western North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the western half of North Carolina as Hurricane Helene devastated the area last week,” said Captain Patrick Jacobs of the sheriff’s office. “Emergency crews from all over the country have been deployed to assist. There are no words to accurately describe the destruction and devastation our fellow North Carolinians are experiencing. Over the weekend, representatives from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, emergency management, and emergency medical services came together and began sharing ideas on how we could help.”

They are asking anyone that is willing to donate needed supplies to the citizens and emergency personnel in western North Carolina such as water, canned foods, flashlights, hand sanitizer, batteries, blankets, non-perishable food items, hygiene products, and all other essential items/goods these communities need.

To respond to these needs immediately, the three county agencies, along with the Conway and Murfreesboro fire departments and CRABB trucking are setting up donation collection sites throughout the county beginning Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The sites are:

Food Fresh located at 312 West Jefferson Street in Jackson

Conway Fire Department located at 113 White Street

The old EMS building across from Gaston Town Hall located at 224 Craige Street

Northampton County personnel will plan to deliver these goods to the western North Carolina emergency services locations on Friday.
