A gun reported stolen from Tennessee in 2019 was recovered during a late Saturday night checkpoint in the area of Hinson Street and Branch Avenue.

A Littleton woman, Rakia Arrington, 24, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

Major Anzel M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the checking station was held in conjunction with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

When Arrington came through the odor of marijuana was coming from within the vehicle, which led to a probable cause search by HCSO Sergeant R. Elder.

The weapon, a Glock 43 9mm was found in the glovebox. It had been reported as stolen from the city of Nashville by police there in August of 2019.

Arrington received a $10,000 bond and a Friday district court date.
