A Weldon man charged in three residential breaking and entering cases that occurred in May will have his first district court appearance later this month.

Edwin R. Branch, 40, was charged last week with three counts of breaking and entering, three counts of larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of stolen property, obtaining property by false pretense, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and a probation violation.

Major Anzell M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said that in May several homeowners in the Sycamore Street area of Weldon reported their homes had been broken into and their property taken.

Investigation by Detective B. Edmondson identified Branch.

Branch remains in the Halifax County Detention on a $31,000 secured bond for the breaking and entering charges and a $1,000 cash bond for the probation violation. 

He has a September 26 court date.
