A Roanoke Rapids man died this morning after being struck while he rode his bicycle off Highway 158 near Garris Street in Weldon.

Weldon police Chief Christopher Davis said the death of Larkie Ray Lynch is being investigated as a hit and run which occurred sometime early this morning.

Lynch was found in a ditch shortly after 11 a.m. today.

Davis said the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.

Vehicle information is currently unknown.
