The Center for Energy Education is inviting all local, regional and statewide candidates to participate in a nonpartisan candidate town hall event at its campus, 460 Airport Road in Roanoke Rapids.

The event is scheduled for August 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is being held in partnership with Blueprint NC and the North Carolina Black Alliance.

The organizations welcome all public office candidates seeking statewide office and local roles within Halifax, Northampton and Warren counties “to hear from the people of our state about the priorities that matter most to them,” the center said.

The event is free and open to the public.

Candidates have been asked to share their perspectives about clean energy integration into rural, low income and disadvantaged communities, notably in the areas of workforce development and community improvement.

Candidates have also been asked to discuss the role of environmental justice in rural communities to address resilience, equity, emergency management and public safety.

The Center for Energy Education, Blueprint NC, and the North Carolina Black Alliance are 501c(3) organizations. They operate as nonpartisan entities and will be hosting legislators, partners and organization members from both sides of the aisle to this event.

A light lunch will be provided.

The discussion will include an opportunity to ask questions and engage with candidates after the presentation.
