The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Captain Scott Hall:

A Hollister man is in jail without the opportunity for bond after two robberies — one on Friday night and another of the same store Saturday morning.

During the Saturday morning robbery Lorne Jareal Lynch, 35, was stabbed by an employee. He fled the store and stole a car. He was apprehended a short time later. He was initially taken to a trauma unit for treatment. He was then transported and admitted to the Halifax County Detention Center shortly after 9:45 p.m., according to detention center records.

The first robbery occurred around 8:30 p.m. The second one occurred at the same store in the Hollister area around 9:30 Saturday morning.

Investigation by Sergeant B. Edmondson revealed that Lynch was the suspect in the first robbery, in which he wielded a knife and forced employees to move from one location to another.

He left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On Saturday morning Lynch returned to the same store to commit a second robbery. He injured an employee with his knife but the employee used his own knife to injure Lynch.

Lynch faces charges of two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, three counts of second-degree kidnapping, a count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, larceny of a motor vehicle, and two counts of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

He has an April 25 district court date.

Domestic

On March 28 Deputy J. Snider responded to a residence on Frank Road in Roanoke Rapids to a report of a domestic in progress.

When Snider arrived he learned that Troy Nicholas Ferrell, 28, had assaulted his girlfriend and ran out the back door when law enforcement arrived.

Snider located Ferrell in a wooded area behind the residence and took him into custody without trouble.

He faces charges of misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, assault on a female and felony assault by strangulation.

He remains in the Halifax County Detention and awaits an April 25 district court date.
