The Weldon Police Department is investigating a vehicle which had been shot into on Country Club Road near College Drive.

The initial report, according to Chief Christopher Davis, indicated the vehicle had been shot at on Premier Boulevard around 10:45 Thursday night.

Investigation by Roanoke Rapids police determined the vehicle was shot at in Weldon.

Davis said Sergeant I. Smith and Officer A. Way responded to this area to attempt to locate where the shooting actually occurred. 

After not finding any signs of this crime in the Country Club Road area, both officers went to Park Avenue in Roanoke Rapids to speak with the victims. 

The officers learned a black SUV had been following the victim and blinking their headlights for the victim to stop. 

The victim stated that four to five shots were fired on Country Club Road. No one was hurt, including a 2-year-old girl inside the vehicle.

Officers located shell casings on Country Club Road.

The motive is unknown.
