A missing Spring Hope teen was found deceased in the Enfield area Monday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Captain Scott Hall said the Wilson Police Department’s Investigative Division contacted the sheriff’s office after they located 18-year-old Amir Hinnant in a remote location off Highway 481 shortly before 4:15 p.m.

Hall said the case is being investigated as a potential homicide but initial investigation indicates the teen’s death occurred in another location before his body was taken to Halifax County.

Hinnant’s family reported him missing to the Wilson Police Department on Saturday.
