The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Shane Guyant:

On Saturday while searching a residence on Georgia Avenue near Tenth Street for Demonte Saquan Johnson and Patrick Lequan Banks, detectives encountered Anthony Elijah Person, 23, of Jackson hiding in the residence.  

Person had an outstanding warrant for injury to real property from September 2022.  

Person was arrested and served with this warrant and was given a $500 bond and February 13 court date.  

Person was not charged with anything related to the arrests of Johnson or Banks who face charges in the death of Brittany Smith in November.

Her death was initially reported as a suicide.

Larceny

On January 9 at approximately 9 p.m., an unknown man entered a business on Smith Church Road and carried away merchandise.
