There will be a two-way race for the Judicial District 7 district court judge seat 3 between Takiya Lewis Blalock, an Ahoskie attorney, and Roanoke Rapids attorney Thomas Earl Dixon, according to the Halifax County Board of Elections.

A contested election is also shaping up in the Weldon City Schools Board of Education race as challengers Noah Davis and Regina Brooks have filed along with incumbents O.D. Sykes and Donna Harrison.

In previous filings the board reported the following:

Terri Silver filed for a seat on the Halifax County Board of Education.

Jimmie Silver filed for the District 1 Halifax County Board of Commissioners seat.

W. Rob Lewis II filed to retain his Judicial District 7 seat 1 district court judge seat.

Teresa Raquel Freeman filed to retain her Judicial District 7 seat 2 district court judge seat.

Incumbent Register of Deeds Christie Avens filed to retain her seat.

Filing for the March 5 primary began Monday and will end at noon on December 15.
