With its purchase of the Roanoke Rapids Theatre, Weldon Mills Distillery announced its decision to move the September 30 NC Bourbon & Spirits Festival event to the venue.

“I just wanted to let y’all know we purchased the Roanoke Rapids Theatre and are moving the festival location to that site,” distillery owner Bruce Tyler said in a video message released today. “This site will provide attendees with both an outdoor and indoor space for all festival activities and will ensure no matter what the weather is, the festival will go on.”

Tyler said “the huge bonus is we will have plenty of onsite parking for everyone. This change is going to be great for all attendees and a great way for y'all to see the theater.”

The event will feature distilleries from across the state, food vendors, crafters, mechanical bull riding, ax-throwing, line dance lessons, corn hole, and other activities.

The festival gates open at 3 p.m., and DJ Dank Williams will keep the music going all day. Maggie Baugh goes on stage at 6 p.m. followed by Ward Davis at 7:30 p.m. and around 9 p.m. Whitey Morgan & the 78's will take the stage.

This lineup will feature traditional and modern country music.

The event will feature a wide variety of spirits including bourbon, tequila, vodka and all other major spirit categories.
