A stop for an expired registration Wednesday resulted in the arrests of the vehicle’s three occupants and the seizure of weapons and drugs.

Lieutenant Shane Guyant said Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Deputy D. Harrison made the stop at the intersection of Highway 48 and Carolina Rest Home Road.

In addition to the expired registration, the driver, Quentin Auston Richardson, 20, of the Durham area, had an expired license and a loaded Glock on the dash.

Harrison identified the front passenger as Rayvon Bennie Harrison, 18, of Roanoke Rapids and the rear passenger as 20-year-old Curnazzion Letavious Burgess of Rocky Mount.

Deputy Harrison smelled a strong odor of marijuana from within the vehicle.

A probable cause search yielded a bag with 4 grams of cocaine, 3 grams of heroin, marijuana and a needle. Deputy Harrison located a loaded Draco AK-47 under the passenger seat.
