The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Captain Jamie Hardy:
On Sunday Officer T. Acree observed the driver of a vehicle attempting to avoid a license checking station.
After stopping the vehicle, Acree detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. After detaining both occupants, officers located 688 grams of marijuana, digital scales, packaging material, and currency.

Jahi Jeffers, 22, and JaQuan Mallory, 18, both of Roanoke Rapids, were arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia. They received November 9 court dates.
The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is investigating the larceny of a vehicle.
Two individuals were seen loading a motorized scooter onto a burgundy tow truck.
