Two incumbents and one challenger in the May 17 primary were administered oaths of office for service on the Halifax County Board of Education.

The incumbents installed were Joyce Lashley and Claude Cooper while the challenger was Michael Hawkins Sr. The installations occurred earlier this month.

Oaths were administered by judges Brenda Branch and Teresa R. Freeman.

"It is my pleasure to re-welcome this group of exceptional community leaders who have been elected to our district board of education,” Superintendent Eric Cunningham said. “We are inspired by the dedication of our community members to select individuals that will certainly provide a great deal of valuable insight, healthy curiosity, and a level of collaboration that will continue our district's tradition of innovation and leadership. I look forward to collaborating with our board to discover new opportunities in the years to come."
