The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is investigating two shootings — one which occurred early this morning and another which occurred early Saturday morning.

Chief Bobby Martin said this morning the shootings, in which the victims sustained no life-threatening injuries, are unrelated. He declined to comment on the motive.

This morning around 1:45 officers received a call of shots being fired outside Klix, a gaming establishment in the 1200 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

Officers encountered a 24-year-old male victim who was shot in the stomach area.

Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived. He was taken to the local hospital and then another medical facility where he was listed in stable condition as of this report.

On Saturday shortly before 2:45 a.m. Officer C. Majette went to a call in the 100 block of Hamilton Street of a person who was shot.

Officers learned a 31-year-old man was shot in his upper right thigh and received a graze wound on his left foot.

The victim was transported for treatment and is in good condition as of this report.
