The town of Littleton kicks off the July 4 holiday Saturday at 10 a.m. with its annual holiday parade.
The parade begins at Lakeland Theater and continues to the Littleton Fire Department.
Afterward there is a Summer Days Market with local products, produce and art.
Also on Saturday Weldon’s annual Fourth of July celebration begins at 6 p.m. at River Falls Park.
The free family event will have food vendors serving up hot dogs, ice cream, funnel cakes, snow cones and more.
Backyard Groove will provide live musical entertainment with soul, funk, beach, country, and rock music.
Abrams Amusements will be there with rides and games.
The fireworks display begins at dark.
Monday
At Historic Halifax from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. there will be musket and living history demonstrations as well as a special reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Then from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. the activities move from the state historic site to the courthouse complex on Ferrell Lane for an event sponsored by the town, the Halifax Lions Club and Halifax Fire and Rescue.
There will be food and family activities during the event which leads up to the fire department’s fireworks display at dark.
In Hobgood festivities begin at 6 p.m. at Friendship Park.
The activities include a pie-eating contest, live entertainment, food vendors and the fireworks display which begins at dark.
