Weldon police Tuesday charged a woman with communicating threats after Chief Christopher Davis said she became combative following an officer’s response to a domestic dispute.

Sergeant T. Mason responded to the 1000 block of Maple Street shortly before 11:30 p.m.

Mason spoke with both parties involved and during the investigation Danita Shanelle McNair, 44, of Weldon, became agitated.

Davis said she tried to assault the other party and then charged at officers.

She was quickly subdued and placed under arrest.

McNair was initially jailed without the opportunity for bond after she was taken before a magistrate.

She has a June 1 court date.
