A second person has been charged with murder and concealment of death in the case of a Medoc man who had initially been reported missing this past weekend.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the man arrested Tuesday around 4 p.m. — Nigeria Macon, 22, of Enfield — is an acquaintance of the first man arrested and charged — Marquez Lyntrell Johnson, 21, of Rocky Mount.

Macon was jailed without the opportunity for bond and has a February 16 district court date.

Hall said the case remains under investigation and there is the potential for additional charges.

The body of the victim, 39-year-old Kelvin Richardson, was found Sunday morning in a creek off Longbridge Road in the Brinkleyville area.

Richardson sustained a fatal gunshot wound and investigators believe the man was placed in the water after the apparent homicide.

The sheriff’s office reported Saturday that Richardson was last seen by family Tuesday at approximately 10:30 p.m.

He was on foot in the area of Medoc Mountain Road and Highway 48 outside Enfield.
