The Community Prayer Tree will remain up throughout the Christmas season and into a portion of the new year.

On Monday the last planned community event was held as members of First Christian Church sang Christmas songs and children from the church held a live nativity.

The tree, which is filled with prayer requests, was the idea of Jodie and Thomas Barrett as a way to remember their son Ryan and two other linemen who were killed in 2018 while restoring power in Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael. Barrett was working alongside George Cesil, and James "Bo" Ussery when the crash claimed their lives.

The luminaries which filled an adjacent field off Old Farm Road and lined the sidewalks at the Barrett’s residence on Rivers Edge Parkway were in memory of workers in the power industry.
