A Christmas tree-lighting will be held in Hollister Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Highway 561.

The exact location of the festivities is 37058 Highway 561 just before Hollister Elementary School, said Sharon Lynch-Jones, who with Jessica Hedgepeth has been planning the event.

The lighting of the tree is expected around 5:30 p.m. and Santa will be on hand along with Andy’s Kettle Corn and Papa Joe’s food truck. There will be a hot chocolate bar.

Children are also invited to bring or write letters to Santa which will be placed in Santa’s mailbox.

“It just lets the kids have something to do and see the lights,” said Lynch-Jones, a family nurse practitioner at Rural Health Group. “With the pandemic, everyone has been slowed down. I want to bring the community together and people together to spread love and just remind people how important life is.”

Hedgepeth, Lynch-Jones said, “Has been very instrumental in helping to get this going.”
