The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Thursday night shooting in which a man was shot in the face.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall said in a statement this evening that the 34-year-old victim was in fair condition at a trauma unit after first being transported to Vidant North.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. in the area of Faulcon Road and Highway 158.

Deputies responded to a report of passengers from two vehicles shooting at each other.

While deputies were enroute, additional calls were received that a man had been shot in the face and was in the roadway near the intersection of Justice Branch and Faulcon roads.

Deputies rendered aid to the victim who Hall said was from Roanoke Rapids.
