COVID-19 booster vaccinations will be offered at The Centre at Halifax Community College next Wednesday, November 3, from 1p.m. to 7 p.m.
Individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are eligible for a booster shot at six months or more after their initial series.
There is a two-month waiting period for individuals who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and want a Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, or Pfizer-BioNTec booster shot.
Eligibility:
65 years and older
Age 18+ who live or work in long-term care settings
Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions such as cancer, heart, lung or kidney disease, chronic liver disease, diabetes mellitus, mental health disorders, obesity, pregnancy and recent pregnancy, smoking, tuberculosis or other conditions.
Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings — first responders, healthcare workers, firefighters, police, or congregate care staff
Education staff — teachers, support staff, daycare workers
Food and agriculture workers
Manufacturing workers
Corrections workers
U.S. Postal Service workers
Public transit workers
Grocery store workers
There are now booster recommendations for all three available COVID-19 vaccines in the United States.
Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose.
Some people may prefer the vaccine type that they originally received and others may prefer to get a different booster. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.
