The Weldon Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Christopher Davis:

This morning shortly before 2, Officer T. Revis responded to a vehicle crash in which the initial report said a building in the 800 block of Sycamore Street was struck.

Investigation showed the SUV struck a utility pole and metal fence. 

Revis observed the driver of an SUV attempting to flee the scene.

The driver was identified as Vance Jerome Parker, 62, of Weldon.

Revis determined Parker was under the influence of alcohol and requested the assistance of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. 

Parker was placed under arrest and taken to Halifax for a breathalyzer test.

Parker received a $1,500 secured bond and November 8 court date.

On Thursday shortly after 10 p.m. Revis responded to a domestic call in the 400 block of Chestnut Street. 

Revis spoke with John Lewis Branch, 48, of Weldon who was having an argument with his brother. 

While Revis was speaking with Branch, the man became irate and pushed the officer.

Branch was placed under arrest and taken before a Halifax County magistrate. He was charged with assault on a government official and received a $750 secured bond with a November 3 court date.

On October 14 around 12:15 a.m., Officer M. DiPietro responded to a business in the 1600 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway about a person who refused to pay for a pizza. 

DiPietro spoke with the delivery driver and identified the person as Christopher Short, 21, of Roanoke Rapids after he had initially given her a false name. 

Short was placed under arrest and taken before a Halifax County magistrate. 

Short was charged with resisting a public officer by giving false information.

He received a $750 secured bond with an October 25 court date.
