AMVETS Post 101 and the Roanoke Rapids Fire Department will host its 20th annual 9/11 service on September 11 at Centennial Park off Roanoke Avenue.

The event starts at 8:45 a.m.

There will be special music, a bell service and a reading of the names of fallen first responders.

The post encourages local volunteer departments as well as rescue and EMTs to join the commemoration.

First responders are also needed to assist in reading the names of the fallen.
