Jennifer Logan, from Gates, received the Governor’s Award for Excellence on July 23 at a guardian ad litem volunteer appreciation event held at Coinjock Marina & Restaurant.  

Logan received the award for the service that she has provided as a guardian ad litem volunteer child advocate in Bertie,  Chowan, Gates and Hertford counties.  

She has been a volunteer child advocate since 2018 and has served 10 children.  

Guardian ad litem child advocates are charged with representing the best interest of children who are involved in the court system because they have been abused or neglected.  

New Guardian ad Litem training begins this month.
