A man wanted in a June 30 shooting in Enfield was arrested this morning in Rocky Mount, town police Chief Chuck Hasty said.

Hasty confirmed that Cornelious Devonta “Chicken Leg” Wills Jr. was arrested on warrants drawn by the Enfield Police Department for the shooting that occurred in Enfield around 1 p.m. last month on Carriage House Lane.

Wills, Hasty said in a statement today, was arrested today in the 1200 block of Sunset Avenue by agents of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the sheriff’s offices of Edgecombe and Nash counties.

He faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, going armed to the terror of the people, discharging a firearm in the town limits, and injury to property.

He received a $102,500 bond and September 15 court date.

At the time of the shooting officers found several shell casings and a vehicle that had been struck.

Captain C. Glover obtained warrants on Wills, 28.

Motive remains under investigation, Hasty said.

According to the state court calendar, Wills was scheduled to appear in Halifax County Superior Court today on charges related to selling marijuana and is scheduled for another superior court date in January on similar charges.
