The Halifax County Health Department today reported seven new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the cumulative number since March of last year to 5,552.

There have been 110 related deaths.

Halifax County Health Director Bruce Robistow said, “Because people for the most part are continuing practicing the three Ws and there is a segment that has been vaccinated, our numbers remain consistently under control.”

With the lower numbers Robistow said, “It’s a great opportunity to get vaccinated now as it takes six weeks to become fully immune. This is the safest time to be vaccinated when we have less risk for infection. Doing so will have you fully immunized by the time the next spike in positive cases occurs.”

The health department will offer first dose Pfizer vaccines to anyone ages 16 years and older by online registration on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Halifax Community College located at 100 College Drive in the 700 building.

Use the main entrance to the college campus.

People under 18 will require parental consent to receive the vaccine.

Appointments are preferred, however, walk-ups are accepted.
