The percentage of positive COVID-19 cases in Halifax County decreased over the past week, with a two-week average of 6.1 percent, the health department reported today.

Six new positive cases were reported, bringing the cumulative total since March of last year to 5,545.

There have been 110 related deaths.

Although the number of COVID-19 cases in congregate living peaked the week of January 30, the numbers for the past week remained the same.

Halifax County Vaccination Status 

16,730 people at least partially vaccinated — 33.5 percent of the population

14,822 people fully vaccinated — 29.6 percent of the population 

Vaccination clinic

The health department will offer first dose Pfizer vaccines to anyone ages 16 years and older by online registration on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Halifax Community College located at 100 College Drive in the 700 building. 

Use the main entrance to the college campus. 

People under 18 will require parental consent to receive the vaccine. 

Appointments are preferred, however, walk-ups are accepted.

The health department located at 19 North Dobbs Street in Halifax is also offering the Moderna vaccine every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Northampton County

Currently, there have been 1,836 total positive cases of which 1,750 have recovered. There are 17 active cases. There have been 69 related deaths.
