Nine new positive cases of COVID-19 were added by the Halifax County Health Department today.

The broad Wednesday report which details percent positives, recoveries and active cases was not available.

The nine new positives bring the cumulative total since March of last year to 5,353. There have been 107 related deaths.

“Halifax County continues to do well with mitigating the spread of COVID-19,” health department Director Bruce Robistow said this evening, “however, we still have a long way to go to reach herd immunity.”

The latest vaccination totals in the county are as follows:

15,392 people at least partially vaccinated (30.8 percent of the population) 

11,978 people fully vaccinated (24.6 percent of the population) 

Meanwhile, the health department reported it will offer the Pfizer vaccine to anyone 16 and older through online registration.

The first dose Pfizer vaccine will be given April 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the 700 building at Halifax Community College. Use the Country Club entrance to the campus.

Persons under 18 will need parental consent to receive the vaccine.

In Northampton County the health department reported today there have been 1,780 total positive cases of which 1,692 have recovered. There are 20 active cases. There have been 68 related deaths.
