A man indicted federally in a 2019 robbery spree which includes a Roanoke Rapids convenience store has sentencing set for March 25 in Raleigh, according to court records.
Jacob Austin Evans of Gates is scheduled to appear before District Judge James C. Dever III at 10:30 a.m.
The second person indicted — Jequayves Demondre Britt of Sharpsburg — is scheduled for arraignment before Dever on April 26.
Evans and Britt were named in a 24-count indictment and charged in 12 robberies across the region which included the heist of The Store Next Door on the evening of July 16, 2019.
Evans has entered guilty pleas to counts 1 and 2, according to court records. Those counts reflect the robbery of the Kangaroo Express on Sunset Avenue in Rocky Mount on July 12, 2019.
The Roanoke Rapids robbery occurred around 9:30 the evening of July 16, 2019, police said at the time.
A person entered the store wearing a mask and showed a weapon. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. There were no injuries.
The robber fled the store on foot and a canine track indicated the person traveled north toward the apartment complex behind the business.
