First dose appointments for the COVID-19 vaccination are being taken by the Halifax County Health Department through online registration only.

The vaccinations will be administered Friday at Halifax Community College building 700 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Meanwhile Rural Health Group is scheduling two Moderna first dose vaccination events — one at Oak Grove Church off Highway 158 outside Littleton on Wednesday and the other at the Northampton County Cultural and Wellness Center on February 19.

Second dose

Second dose vaccines are being administered at Rural Health Group at Halifax Medical Specialists, 270 Smith Church Road in Roanoke Rapids.   

They are being administered on the following dates:

Today the health department added 25 new positive cases which bring the total cumulative positives since March to 4,772.

There have been 86 related deaths.

The health department reported Monday there were 1,601 total positive cases of which 1,505 have recovered. There were 31 active cases. There have been 65 related deaths.
