A Halifax County medical facility that performs COVID-19 testing failed to properly send labs to the state, the Halifax County Health Department said in its report today.

This has resulted in up to 300 positive results from as far back as December and health department Director Bruce Robistow said because of the reporting error the department is not able to determine the actual number of positives from Tuesday due to 270 cases being added in one day.

Robistow declined to name the facility but he said none of the other facilities performing tests in the county have had this issue.

He said the problem was identified and corrected on Monday. He said he hopes the department can give accurate daily positives in Thursday’s report.

The failure by the facility to properly send labs to the state brought the cumulative number of positive cases since March to 4,622.

The health department also reported two additional related deaths today, which brings the total to 83.

There have been 4,083 recoveries — 88.34 percent.

There are 453 current patients — 9.8 percent.

There are three patients whose conditions are currently unknown.

The total number of positives by ZIP code beginning March 25 through today is as follows:  Enfield (27823) – 607 cases
