Enfield police are looking for a person who walked into a store accompanied by a young child and proceeded to take a rack of lighters from the counter and leave before realizing he left the child in the business.

The larceny occurred Saturday at Speedway on South McDaniel Street around 8:30 a.m., according to a statement by Captain Chuck Hasty.

Hasty said this afternoon the child was most likely of elementary school-age.

In the statement Hasty said the man entered the store and took the rack of lighters, put them into something and then fled the store without the child. He put the lighters in a gray passenger car and then went back into the store to get the child.

The vehicle was last seen heading north on McDaniel Street towards Halifax.

Anyone with information on the identity of this subject is encouraged to contact Hasty at 252-886-0225 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
