The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has a new website which guides its visitors to information about command staff and allows them to access and download gun permits as well as see who is currently incarcerated in the detention center.

Created by The Computer Guy & Company of Roanoke Rapids, it is one that Web Services Manager Curry Roberts says is an “information-rich website and all the information came directly from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.”

With a son in law enforcement, Roberts said designing the site meant much to him. “With him being in law enforcement it brings it a little closer to home.”

Computer Guy President Bob Agoglia said, “We are pleased to be involved with the process of helping the people of Halifax County connect to the sheriff’s office.”

Roberts said the sheriff’s office was easy to work with. “They knew what they wanted. We were able to put something together that will benefit the public. They wanted it easy on the eye and easy on their phones. The section to start the gun permit process is a valuable time-saver.”

Roberts said he would present ideas and any information he needed “they would have it in front of me. They were a delight to work with.”

Sheriff Wes Tripp is pleased with the site, which can be accessed by directing a browser to this link. “I want to thank Chief Deputy Scott Hall, Sergeant Shane Guyant and the administrative office for all their hard work and Curry for being the architect for the website. It’s another tool to aid the public.”

Said Hall: “We wanted it to be more user friendly.”

Guyant said the process was easy. “They offered us advice on what would and wouldn’t work. We needed to have a level of service we hadn’t had.”

The depth of the website even gives a 120-year history of the sheriff’s office.

It has a section devoted entirely to the detention center including the inmate search and how to sign up for video visitation which is how the office is now conducting inmate visits. For those who don’t have the technology at home there are three kiosks at the office those on an inmate’s visitor list can use for free.

One of the most comprehensive sections is the resource section. “The resource section gives our citizens the opportunity to search for services that we offer and also answer questions that they may have,” Tripp said. “Also within that section is the information forms needed for gun permits which is administered by the civil division and Lieutenant Jessica Lyles.”

There is also a citizen complaint form and a form in which the public can compliment a deputy.

“We’re in the 22nd Century,” Tripp said. “It’s nothing more than trying to provide customer service.”
