Weldon City Schools Thursday hosted a district-wide virtual teacher of the year celebration.

Shannon Goss, a third-grade teacher at Weldon Elementary Global Academy, will serve as the Weldon City Schools Teacher of the Year.

Goss shared her motto is “Every child must learn and every child can learn."

She extended a thank you to the Weldon community and her family in Jamaica.

There were no eligible candidates at Roanoke Valley Early College.

Interim Superintendent Jerry V. Congleton said, "We are very proud to have each of the candidates as a part of the Weldon City Schools Team. Congratulations to Ms. Goss, who is an outstanding educator.  Ms. Goss is also a recipient of the 2019 North Carolina Council for Math Outstanding Teachers of the Year Award.

“She holds high expectations for all learners because she believes in them and their capabilities. She is a valuable asset to education and we are thankful for her continued dedication to the Weldon City Schools community. We appreciate you for all you do."
