In the first week it opened ModWash on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway set a company-wide record in the amount of people coming in, its Senior Vice President of Operations Jamey Buck told a group of chamber and government officials this morning.

“There was a lot of hype out there on the street,” he said before a ribbon-cutting ceremony. “Everybody is recognizing that we’re here.”

For the next 10 days ModWash, which is located in the same shopping center as Tractor Supply, Mayflower and Burger King will be offering free car washes to the community.

The Chattanooga-based company has a “robust initiative going into 2021,” Buck said, which will “lead to 100 stores by the end of 2023. It’s very exciting especially with the conditions we’re facing at this time with the pandemic. A lot of businesses are going under and we’re kind of flourishing and trying to set an example within the community that we’re serving.”

Buck said he appreciated the warm welcome the company has received in the community. “We’re not just a regular car wash operation and company. We are a company that really cares about the community that we serve and the people that work for us as well.”

One of the logos the company uses is a teardrop which represents “the ripple of that teardrop as it hits water,” as well as its significance to grooming people, “and taking a younger generation of people and making them become better people within our organization.”

This is the fourth location the company has opened in the Carolinas, Buck said, and there are 12 stores it plans to open by the end of the year. Seven of the 12 will be in the Carolinas. “We’re very excited to become one of the businesses to come to this community and help out and do anything we can to make it a better community.”

Robert Caudle, chair of the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce board, said, “I just want to thank the folks at ModWash for giving us an opportunity. There’s a lot of opportunity to be had in this area and this community. We thank you for partnering with the chamber.”

Halifax County Commissioner Linda Brewer said, “We are delighted to have you here. We welcome you all to our community. We all look forward to working with you.”

Roanoke Rapids City Manager Joseph Scherer said, “We are so grateful for you to bring your business here and we appreciate the opportunities for our people to utilize your products and provide employment. We really thank you for picking Roanoke Rapids for your business.”

Halifax Community College President Michael Elam welcomed the business and pledged the school’s support. “Anything we can do to help including providing some well-trained individuals we’d love to have an opportunity.”

Chamber President and CEO Ginny Lewis pledged the organization’s support. “Together this is what makes our area work and that’s why we’re here to help you guys in any way we can.”

In a company press release on the opening ModWash said each location features the latest in touchless car wash technology and will focus on making positive impacts in local communities. Ali Massey will serve as store leader and will be managing all day-to-day logistics. “I’m excited to bring best-in-class wash service and guest experience to my hometown,” she said. “My team is hopeful for a big turn out. I know the residents, as well as the visitors, of Roanoke Rapids will enjoy the ModWash quality. Our team is eager to welcome everyone and show how we make life shine.”

The company is offering complimentary car washes from now until September 19.
