The Halifax County Health Department today added seven new positive cases of COVID-19 to its data.
Today’s report shows a total of 885 positive cases since testing began in March. The department’s trend line graphic today does show a decrease.

There have been 13 related deaths — 11 within the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code and two within the Weldon area ZIP code.
The health department encourages residents to continue to practice the three Ws — waiting six feet apart, handwashing and wearing a facial covering. “Improving your compliance with the three Ws now will both better educate children as to how to practice them. Please take this opportunity to protect our children and each other very seriously,” the health department said.
Northampton County
The health department reported Thursday were 382 total positive cases of which 348 have recovered. There have been 17 related deaths.
There were 17 active cases as of Thursday’s report.
