Two additional deaths have been added to Halifax County COVID-19 data, the health department reported this afternoon.

The latest data brings the total related deaths to 13. According to the North Carolina Department of Health Human Services ZIP code database, one of the deaths was in the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code and the other within the Weldon area ZIP code.

There have been 11 deaths reported within the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code and two within the Weldon area ZIP code.

Graphic information of trends which usually accompanies the health department’s report was not available today, the department said in its update.

Today the health department added three new positive cases bringing the total to 878 since testing began in March.

The health department encourages residents to continue to practice the three Ws — waiting six feet apart, handwashing and wearing a facial covering. “Improving your compliance with the three Ws now will both better educate children as to how to practice them. Please take this opportunity to protect our children and each other very seriously,” the health department said. 

Northampton County

Wednesday the health department reported there were 381 total positive cases of which 347 have recovered. There have been 17 deaths.

There were 17 active cases.
