Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a shooting which occurred in the 1000 block of Cedar Street Thursday evening.

Captain Jamie Hardy said this morning it is not clear whether the shooting, which occurred shortly before 5:45 p.m., was a drive-by.

He said the male victim was shot in the face and leg. The victim was taken to Vidant North and then to another medical facility.

The victim was talking when officers arrived, Hardy said. Thus far there are no descriptions of a suspect or suspects.

In a statement Hardy said officers and detectives responded and found the victim  was shot.
