Weldon City Schools has set its commencement activities for the graduating class of 2020 during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Regulations, recommendations, and mandates regarding safe practice during the COVID-19 pandemic will be enforced during all activities.
Wednesday and Thursday
Seniors graduating from Weldon STEM High School and Roanoke Valley Early College will be recording their portions of the ceremony at Weldon STEM High School, in the gymnasium, at their assigned times.
Graduates should wear their caps and gowns, with male students wearing white shirts and dark pants and female students a dress or white tops, dark bottoms — no strapless or spaghetti straps.
The seniors, along with five family members, should report to the front high school parking lot at the scheduled time and remain in vehicles until advised by a school representative.
May 22
The Weldon City Schools Virtual Graduation will be aired on the district’s and school websites, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter pages on May 22 at 1 p.m. Viewing information will be released on May 21.
May 23
There will be a drive through commencement for all graduating seniors followed by a parade. The commencement will begin at 10 a.m. at Weldon Stem High School and the parade immediately after.
Everyone will remain in their vehicles at all times. No flatbed vehicles, motorcycles, four-wheelers or dirt bikes will be allowed for safety reasons.
Details regarding the parade route will be shared soon.
The rain date is May 24.
May 26 through 28
Diplomas, official transcripts, report cards, and yard signs will be available for pick-up at seniors’ select high schools between the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
