With completion of the Forest Hills parking lot paving project over the summer, Jay Baker has made significant improvements to his laundry which is located there.

It was something he planned to do once the paving project was completed and he has now done a top to bottom renovation of the business.

“I think business has picked up,” Baker said of not only his business but the traffic in general at the long-established shopping center. “People appreciate it when you take care of your business. I think overall business is doing good.”

For his part in the renovation which coincided with the long-awaited parking lot project, Baker put in 22 new dryers at Forest Hills Laundry. The washers were already in good condition.

Water’s Edge Services, a home maintenance and handyman business out of Lake Gaston, did the renovation work.

Josh McKinney of Water’s Edge said the company redid the drywall, installed new ceiling tiles and put up fiberglass panels which are easier to clean. “We do it right the first time and let the word spread.”

Baker was pleased with the company’s work. “They say what they are going to do and do what they say.”

And Baker is pleased with the new look of the laundry. “I think it looks nice and comfortable. It seems like it’s more open. The customers really appreciate it.”

Ruth Epps divides her laundry time between Forest Hills and the laundry Baker operates on Bolling Road. “It’s nicer,” she said of Forest Hills. “I like it.”

Baker said Rosemary laundry on Roanoke Avenue is next on the scope for renovations.
